As a Dorset Wedding Photographer I'm fairly spoilt for gorgeous wedding venues, however one of my absolute favourites is the Italian Villa at Compton Acres; fortunately enough during 2024 I was able to shoot 4 beautiful weddings here including Kirsty & Adam's.
I met Kirsty & her bridesmaids at a local Premier Inn for her morning prep where she was already looking incredible as her hair and make up were complete upon my arrival. This allowed me some time to capture the beautiful details Kirsty has, including the stationary she had made herself. We then captured some tears on her reveal of her stunning Chameleon Bride dress to her bridesmaids, as well as a touching moment with her dad.
During the day I was very under the weather so managed to thankfully get my photographer friend to come along to give me an extra hand. Throughout this time she managed to capture the details of the stunning decor Kirsty & Adam had planned. With hints of white and sage, the rooms were dressed elegantly by Lovingly Styled Events, which was to the exact description to what Kirsty had described, including the flowers & cake provided by Hillview Flowers & The Crumb Factory.
Originally the couple had planned to have an outdoor ceremony, but being very aware it was the end of March and the British weather doesn't play ball, the alternative was in the upstairs suite at the Italian Villa. The ceremony was incredibly beautiful with plenty of tears and laughter.
After the ceremony due to the weather being on and off we decided to jump confetti to get straight to the group photos, usually I don't like to do this as I like to allow you to have some time to greet guests and have a moment. But, both me and the couple decided as the weather was hit and miss and they only had a short groups list to get straight in to them, and then they can focus on drinks after these were complete. I highly recommend chatting to your photographer before the day to discuss your wet weather plan, and whether you're happy to adjust plans if need be.
Typically on a wedding day, I love to do two sessions with the couple to allow for some photos just before your wedding breakfast, and also once more in the evening (during golden hour if you're lucky enough to have one). This allows for you to have some time alone to discuss your day, but also again as a back up to the weather that if we have to cancel the first session we've still allotted time later in the day. For Kirsty & Adam as they booked my 6 hour package and it being March with a much shorter window of natural light, we opted for one longer session before their wedding breakfast. This worked beautifully for them as it fit in to their timeline so well, and allowed for plenty of candid moments captured later in the day.
For their speeches the bride & groom had a special surprise for their guests, announcing their pregnancy! I was lucky enough to be told before the day so were able to capture some gorgeous photos on their couple session, but the reaction to the announcement in the speeches is something I'll never forget! The emotions from all of their family & friends were honestly so touching and I feel so honoured to have been a part of such a special moment for them.
The evening reception started with plenty of laughs, the first dance the the classic heart shaped sunglasses. I can imagine the rest of the evening would've been absolutely incredible.
If you're in the progress of booking your wedding photographer I'd love to hear from you. I'm Dorset based, however I also cover the local surrounding counties within my package prices, as well as cover the rest of the UK & abroad. Do feel free to get in touch via my contact page.
"Lucy has a knack of quietly capturing special moments throughout the day that when you look back through the gallery you can't even remember the photo being taken. We have so many photos of our family & friends that we will cherish forever and we can't recommend Lucy enough to any other couples!"
